Job Description:
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
- Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
- Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
- Share market intelligence with the in-field team, brand team, and sales manager
- Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition with assigned healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Travel approximately 20% of the time
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, pharmacy, business-related field, or equivalent
- Proven track record of success in selling
- Solid presentation skills
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen
- Proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight training events and sales meetings
- Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
- Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials, which may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
- Preferred: Proven sales performance within the respective therapeutic areas
- Preferred: Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience, such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing
