Senior Manager, ESG & Sustainability
About Moxico Resources
Moxico Resources is a private, UK-incorporated mining company with a growing portfolio of copper assets. Our flagship operation is the Mimbula Copper Project in Zambia, alongside other development and exploration assets in Zambia, Saudi Arabia and Argentina.
The Role
We are seeking a Manager, ESG & Sustainability to lead group-wide environmental, social, and governance strategy across our operations and development assets. This is a new role reporting into the General Counsel & Head of Sustainability with a mandate to get the company IPO-ready from an ESG standpoint — building the systems and disclosures that public markets, lenders and rating agencies expect from a listed mining company.
This role reports directly to the General Counsel & Head of Sustainability.
Based in Johannesburg, the role will require regular travel to Zambia (Copperbelt/Mimbula, Kalengwa), and periodic travel to other Moxico properties.
Key Responsibilities
IPO & Listing Readiness
- Lead the design and implementation of a group ESG framework, policies, and reporting infrastructure capable of meeting the requirements of the intended listing venue and associated disclosure regimes.
- Prepare the company for ESG due diligence by underwriters, institutional investors, credit rating agencies, and ESG data providers.
- Own the ESG components of the prospectus/listing document and data room, working closely with legal, finance, and external advisers.
- Establish baseline data collection and assurance processes (emissions, water, tailings, safety, community metrics) capable of withstanding third-party audit and assurance.
Group ESG Strategy & Governance
- Develop and implement Moxico's group-wide sustainability strategy, targets, and roadmap across all operating and development assets.
- Align policies and management systems with international standards, including IFC Performance Standards, ICMM Mining Principles, Equator Principles (where relevant to project financing), and the EITI.
- Build and lead a small central ESG function, with dotted-line coordination of site-level HSE, community, and environmental teams.
Environmental Management
- Oversee environmental compliance, permitting, and management plans across all jurisdictions, including water management, tailings storage facility governance, biodiversity, and closure/rehabilitation planning.
- Lead climate strategy: GHG inventory (Scope 1, 2, and material Scope 3), climate risk assessment, and decarbonisation pathway.
Social Performance & Community Relations
- Support community engagement, social impact assessment, resettlement (where applicable), local content, and grievance mechanisms across all sites, in line with IFC PS5 and international good practice.
- Ensure robust human rights due diligence across operations and the supply chain.
- Support site teams on stakeholder engagement with governments, traditional authorities, and local communities.
Health & Safety
- Support reporting on safety performance and culture in partnership with site HSE leads and Heads of Operations.
- Ensure reporting meet investor-grade standards.
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
Produce Moxico's annual Sustainability Report and manage responses to ESG questionnaires and investor/lender requests.
