SAP ABAP Developer (Expert) (SAP S/4HANA + SAP UI5 / Fiori + Kafka)

Introduction

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced SAP ABAP Developer (Expert) to join a globally integrated technology team delivering enterprise-scale SAP solutions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced SAP professional who thrives in Agile environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is passionate about building modern SAP applications and integrations using the latest SAP technologies.

You will work with international stakeholders, contribute to strategic SAP initiatives, and help deliver innovative solutions across global business operations.

Essential skills

  • Minimum 8 years' SAP ABAP development experience
  • Extensive experience developing on SAP S/4HANA
  • Strong SAP UI5/Fiori development experience
  • Solid experience with:
    • ODATA Services
    • APIs
    • ALE/iDOC
    • RFC
    • Kafka integration
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams
  • Exposure to DevOps practices
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve software delivery

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality SAP ABAP solutions on SAP S/4HANA.
  • Design and develop reports, enhancements, interfaces, function modules and ABAP Objects.
  • Enhance standard SAP functionality using User Exits, BAdIs and Enhancement Framework.
  • Develop modern SAP UI5/Fiori applications and backend services.
  • Design, develop and support integrations using:
    • ODATA Services
    • REST APIs
    • ALE/iDOC
    • RFC
    • Kafka
  • Collaborate with functional consultants and integration teams to deliver reliable interfaces between SAP and external systems.
  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Prepare technical specifications and documentation.
  • Support SIT, UAT, regression testing and production deployments.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimise system performance.
  • Resolve incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and DevOps activities.
  • Collaborate with global business and technical teams across multiple regions.
  • Leverage approved AI development tools to improve coding efficiency, testing, documentation, refactoring and overall delivery quality.
