Requirements

  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, plus a one‑year post‑basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing Science.
  • Proof of current registration with SANC.
  • A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a professional nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
  • Experience in theatre is an advantage.
  • Computer literate.
  • Conversant with relevant guidelines for a mother and child facility, including HIV Guidelines and data requirements for maternal and neonatal health.
  • Ability to provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team, actively participate in decision‑making, morbidity and mortality meetings, and promote quality patient care.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of National Core Standards (Ideal Hospital).
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain respect and dignity for patients and relatives.
