Purpose of Job A laundry operator is responsible for operating laundry machines, ensuring cleanliness, and maintaining equipment while providing excellent service. Perform proper laundry, cleaning operations which include pick up, cleaning, drying, folding, and delivery of laundry.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate Laundry Equipment: Manage and operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment to ensure efficient processing of laundry items.
  • Sort and Prepare Laundry: Receive, sort, and classify laundry items based on type and colour, ensuring proper handling and care for different fabrics.
  • Wash and Dry: Load machines with laundry, select appropriate washing and drying cycles, and monitor the process to ensure quality results.
  • Folding and Finishing: Fold, hang, and package clean laundry items for delivery or storage, ensuring they meet presentation standards.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on laundry equipment, including cleaning filters and reporting any mechanical issues to management.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling of chemicals and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent service to customers, addressing any inquiries or concerns regarding laundry services.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to physically operate laundry equipment and perform laundry functions which include but are not limited to lifting heavy laundry items (approximately 25 kg), bending, reaching, pushing, carrying, standing for long period, using extremities.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure quality control in laundry processing.
  • Work Environment: Work at the secondary area settings of the plant handling PPE and related material that require laundry services. The job may involve working with large-scale industrial machines and can be physically demanding
Formal Education Grade 12 or equivalent N3

Working Experience

  • 2 years+ in the Explosives environment.
  • Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role will be an added advantage.
