Medical Secretary
<strong><p>An exciting opportunity is available for a Medical Secretary to join our Nuclear Medicine practice in George.</p><p><br></p><p>The successful candidate will play an important role in the new PET/CT Centre opening in George, while also assisting with the day-to-day administrative and patient-related functions of our established Nuclear Medicine practice.</p><p><br></p><p>We are looking for a friendly, professional, organised and motivated individual who enjoys working with patients and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.</p><p><br></p><p>Key responsibilities</p><p><br></p><p>The position will include:</p><p><br></p><p>Reception and general secretarial duties.</p><p>Welcoming and assisting patients in a professional and compassionate manner.</p><p>Scheduling and coordinating PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine appointments.</p><p>Communicating with patients, referring doctors, medical aids and other healthcare providers.</p><p>Obtaining medical aid authorisations and assisting with medical aid queries.</p><p>Working with medical aid tariff codes and ICD-10 coding.</p><p>General administrative duties relating to the PET/CT Centre and Nuclear Medicine practice.</p><p>Maintaining accurate patient and administrative records.</p><p>Assisting the medical, radiography and administrative teams as required.</p><p>Maintaining strict patient confidentiality and complying with POPIA requirements.</p><p>Requirements</p><p><br></p><p>The successful applicant should have:</p><p><br></p><p>Bilingualism – Afrikaans and English.</p><p>Previous experience in a medical practice, radiology or similar healthcare environment is strongly preferred.</p><p>Sound knowledge of Medical Aids, Radiology tariff codes and ICD-10 coding.</p><p>Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.</p><p>Professional verbal and written communication skills.</p><p>Basic arithmetic and good reading comprehension skills.</p><p>Computer literacy.</p><p>Excellent organisational and administrative skills.</p><p>Strong attention to detail and the ability to work thoroughly and accurately.</p><p>Good time management and the ability to multitask in a busy medical environment.</p><p>The ability to work effectively as part of a team.</p><p>A professional demeanour and appearance.</p><p>Honesty, integrity, motivation and flexibility.</p><p>The ability to identify problems and assist in finding practical solutions.</p><p>A commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and applying POPIA principles.</p><p>The ideal candidate</p><p><br></p><p>We are particularly looking for someone who is enthusiastic about becoming part of a new PET/CT service from its start-up phase, while being flexible enough to assist across the broader Nuclear Medicine practice.</p><p><br></p><p>The position would suit someone who is dependable, takes initiative, works well under pressure and understands the importance of providing patients with a professional, efficient and caring experience.</p></strong>
