Medical Accounts Clerk (Half Day)

Job Overview:
Our client is a well-established specialist gynaecology practice seeking an experienced and organised Medical Accounts Clerk to join their close-knit team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full medical accounts function, including processing and submitting medical aid claims, following up on rejected and outstanding claims, managing patient accounts and statements, handling account queries and assisting with the collection of outstanding accounts.

The role will also include patient appointment bookings and general administrative support within the practice.
The ideal candidate will have previous medical accounts experience within a doctor's or specialist practice, be familiar with medical practice management systems and be highly organised, accurate and reliable.

Person should reside close to Northriding, JHB area

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum requirements:
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Previous experience handling medical accounts within a doctor's or specialist practice.
  • Experience with Vericlaim or another medical practice management system.
  • Experience with medical claim processing, submissions and follow-ups.
  • Experience handling patient accounts and statements.
  • Experience with outstanding accounts and collections.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Accurate and methodical when working with figures and account information.
  • Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
  • Computer literate.
  • Professional and friendly manner.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
 
Duties will include but is not limited to:
  • Prepare, process and manage patient accounts.
  • Process and submit medical aid and patient claims using Vericlaim or the relevant medical practice management system.
  • Follow up on rejected, unpaid and outstanding claims.
  • Prepare and manage patient statements.
  • Follow up with patients and medical aids regarding outstanding accounts.
  • Assist with the collection of outstanding patient accounts.
  • Handle account-related queries from patients and medical aids.
  • Maintain accurate patient and account records.
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments when required.
  • Assist with general administrative duties within the practice.
  • Provide administrative support to the Practice Manager.
  • Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
