Nedbank Insurance is looking for a Junior Actuarial Analyst to join our Corporate Actuarial team. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring actuary to gain exposure to financial reporting, capital management, valuation, forecasting, and process automation within a dynamic insurance environment.<br><br></strong><strong>As a Junior Actuarial Analyst, you will support the delivery of actuarial solutions that contribute to sound business decision-making and uphold Nedbank's commitment to creating value for our clients.<br><br></strong><strong>Job Purpose<br><br></strong>To provide actuarial solutions to internal and external stakeholders within the Corporate Actuarial team, supporting Nedbank Insurance's strategic objectives and in line with Nedbank's Client Value Proposition.<br><br><strong><strong>Job Responsibilities</strong></strong> <br><br><ul><li>As the successful candidate, you will:</li><ul><li>Assist with the completion of monthly IFRS reserving results for insurance licences.</li><li>Support the preparation of quarterly and annual SAM returns.</li><li>Investigate actuarial results to identify trends, anomalies, and emerging issues.</li><li>Contribute to actuarial basis setting exercises.</li><li>Assist with the actuarial components of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process.</li><li>Participate in the annual forecasting and planning process.</li><li>Support the automation and enhancement of existing actuarial processes to improve operational efficiency.</li><li>Document actuarial methodologies, processes, and controls.</li><li>Prepare and communicate actuarial results and insights to actuarial management.</li><li>Actively contribute as a collaborative member of the Corporate Actuarial team.</li><li>Participate in initiatives that support Nedbank's culture, transformation, and employee engagement objectives.</li><li>Share knowledge, industry developments, and best practices with colleagues and stakeholders.</li><li>Complete personal development and learning activities within agreed timelines.<br></li></ul></ul><strong><strong>People Specification<br><br></strong></strong><ul><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Numerical accuracy and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to interpret and communicate complex actuarial information clearly.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Planning and organising capability.</li><li>Ability to work effectively within a team environment.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other actuarial modelling tools.</li><li>Interest in process improvement, automation, and innovation.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Essential Qualification - NQF Level<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Science, Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, B.Degree in Statistics or Mathematics</li><li>Matric / National Senior Certificate / Grade 12<br><br></li></ul><strong>Minimum Experience Level<br><br></strong><ul><li>0 - 1 year actuarial experience.</li><li>Minimum 4 actuarial exams completed (ASSA preferred).<br><br></li></ul><strong><strong>Why join Nedbank?<br><br></strong></strong><strong>At Nedbank, we are committed to creating an environment where our people can grow, thrive, and achieve their full potential.
