Duties & Responsibilities
Reports to HR Manager and dotted line to the Financial Director
Purpose of the Role:
The Human Resources and Payroll Administrator manages the dual functions of accurate, timely salary processing and employee lifecycle administration from a payroll perspective. Key duties include processing payroll inputs (timesheets, amendments deductions), maintaining HR electronic databases, ensuring compliance with BCEA, LRA and BCCEI, and resolving employee queries.
Core Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration: Process monthly payroll, calculate deductions, taxes, bonuses, allowances and overtime, and ensure payment accuracy. Ensure correct documentation is processed for
Casual Workers Payment: Check and manage company casuals, ensure correct dates and times are worked, relevant payments have been made and queries are resolved.
HR Records & Database Maintenance: Maintain accurate employee records on the Pay-Space systems, as well as personal documentation with strict confidentiality.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to labour legislation BCEA, LRA, BCCEI, SARS, UIF, Unions and other stakeholders, manage statutory reports, and assist with audits.
Query Support: Act as the first point of contact for employee payroll and related queries.
General Administration: accurate filing, record keeping, quarterly internal audits, generating letters where required and management of absenteeism for the entire group of companies.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
Previous experience in payroll processing on Pay Space or experience in VIP and HR administration.
Knowledge:
Understanding of local legislation i.e. SARS compliance, PAYE, UIF, SDL, BCEA and the LRA
Skills:
High numeracy, proficiency in MS Office - specifically Excel, and excellent attention to detail
Multi-tasking, working well under pressure, meeting deadlines, work autonomously, take initiative, accuracy, teamwork, confidentiality, accuracy and organised.
Education: Diploma in Human Resources, Understanding of Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
Working Hours from Monday to Friday 07:00 to 16:00 or 07:30 to 16:30. Open plan office.
