Key Responsibilities

Guest Room Cleaning

  • Clean and service guest rooms in accordance with hotel standards and daily room assignments. Make beds, replace linen and towels, and replenish guest amenities. Dust, vacuum, mop, and sanitise all room surfaces, bathrooms, and fixtures. Ensure guest rooms are clean, well-presented, and ready for occupancy within required timeframes. Report maintenance defects, damaged items, and missing inventory promptly.
Public Area Cleaning
  • Clean and maintain public areas, including reception, corridors, stairways, lifts, conference facilities, restaurants, offices, and restrooms. Ensure all public spaces remain clean, tidy, and welcoming throughout the day. Remove rubbish and dispose of waste in accordance with hotel procedures.
Laundry & Linen
  • Collect, sort, and distribute clean linen where required. Ensure housekeeping trolleys are fully stocked with linen, guest supplies, and cleaning materials. Handle linen and guest laundry carefully and according to hotel procedures.
Guest Service
  • Respond politely and professionally to guest requests. Assist guests with housekeeping-related enquiries whenever possible. Respect guest privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Health, Safety & Hygiene
  • Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures. Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly. Wear the prescribed uniform and personal protective equipment where required. Comply with all hotel policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 10 or Grade 12 (Matric) will be advantageous. Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in a hotel, guest house, lodge, hospital, or commercial environment will be advantageous. Good communication skills. Physically fit and able to perform cleaning duties throughout the shift. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
