General Maintenance Assistant: Clinvet South Africa

Clinvet SA is widely regarded as one of the leading animal health CRO's globally. We are recruiting for a General Maintenance Assistant within our Maintenance Department at Clinvet South Africa at our Bloemfontein site. This is a fixed-term position for a period of 6 (six) months.


Primary Job Purpose

To conduct all project and/or reactive maintenance-based needs pertaining to the building, refurbishment (tiling, painting, plumbing/carpentry) and repair of structures and/or buildings inclusive of electrical and working at heights utilizing task related machinery and equipment.


Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or plans along with associated data and calculations to complete the assigned work (including electrical installations, inspections, and repairs) and conduct intermediate troubleshooting techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct cutting, grinding and/or polishing/finishing of materials, structures and/or items fabricated.
  • Conduct identified building, refurbishment (tiling, painting, plumbing/carpentry) and repair of structures and/or buildings and roads inclusive of electrical and working at heights related work as assigned.
  • Carry out assigned HVAC/electrical maintenance and repair work.
  • Conduct inspection of resources, materials, tools and machinery/equipment as well as post job/activity inspections to ensure adherence to specified standards and quality.
  • Handling and storage of chemicals and maintenance consumables in an efficient, safe and environmentally sustainable manner.
  • Record and manage data accurately for departmental and project use.

Qualification, Training and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12, and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A relevant qualification (Mechanical or Electrical) will be advantageous
  • Basic Computer Literacy
  • Driver’s License
