About Disney+:

Disney+ is The Walt Disney Company’s Direct to Consumer video entertainment service and is the key business priority and growth engine for TWDC. Launched in the EMEA region in 2019, it includes long and short form content from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. In February 2021 it expanded its proposition in EMEA to include the Star brand with a broader range of TV series and movies targeted at a more mature audience. The service has already been recognised externally as ‘streaming service of the year’ in many markets and has been commended for its appealing and easy to use interface accessed across multiple platforms (connected TV, mobile devices, games consoles, etc).

The  Brand & Content Marketing Senior Planner SA will be responsible for the development of insight driven  marketing strategies and best in class campaigns for Disney+ in South Africa, at both an overarching brand level and IP specific executions. The focus, and measurement of success, is to build brand awareness, understanding and consideration of Disney+, and its high priority content drops, to help drive, in partnership with the performance & retention teams, brand health, sign ups, subscribers and loyalty.

The individual will have day to day responsibility for SA marketing activity, working closely with the Africa Snr Marketing Manager and the regional team to align on overarching brand and audience strategy, whilst reflecting local nuances shaped by the South African market audiences & behaviours, TV & SVOD landscape and broader entertainment industry .

The individual will also be expected to work hand in glove with other Disney+ departments including synergy, performance, retention, PR, digital, social and partnerships to help plan integrated strategies.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Create and execute industry leading, insight driven, innovative & effective marketing campaigns for Disney+ in South Africa  at a brand and IP-specific level, ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget.

  • Manage and be responsible for campaign planning process and timelines, including internal and external briefings, implementation and post-campaign reporting & analysis ensuring learnings and recommendations flow into future activity.

  • Day to day management of media agencies, building a strong and trusted partnership to ensure continued innovative and effective campaigns.

  • Detailed campaign budget management, tracking purchase orders, managing vendors, and supporting the Snr Marketing Manager with annual financial planning.

  • Partner with the Performance, Partnerships and Retention teams to ensure media plans are connected and intertwined with their activity.

  • Be a key point of contact with the publicity team to ensure we are aligned and maximising brand and content publicity opportunities.

  • Be an expert on attitudes and behaviours of key SA audiences and where and how to connect with them.

  • Understand the competitive environment from both a platform and content perspective (TV, SVOD & Theatrical), applying insights to gain competitive advantage.
