DC Inbound Clerk Dayshift Midrand Retail DC

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand has an opportunity available for an Inbound Clerk to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centres with accurate receiving of incoming goods delivered to warehouse.

Essential:

  • Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate with English and Mathematics
  • 1 Year relevant experience, in a Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment
Advantageous:
  • Supply-Chain or Logistics Degree or Diploma
Job Specification.

Inbound / Reverse Logistics (Receiving):

  • Ensure that the receiving department adheres to the:
    • Accurate verifying, scanning and capturing of physical goods receipts for the warehouse in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures.
    • Always ensure that there is no external or internal contamination/ visible damages, when trucks / pallets are received.
    • Receiving of all warehouse goods and invoices in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures.
    • Return all unordered or damaged goods delivered and accurately complete credit notes for non-acceptance in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures. Ensure that, all unordered and damaged goods are returned.
  • Verify and check deliveries against inbound delivery and Invoices ensure total accuracy.
  • Ensure goods delivered are in fact the goods ordered as per the company purchase order, for which the company has been invoiced.
  • Scan barcodes and capture the quantities, batch detail, expiry dates etc. during the receiving process.
  • Ensure that the quantities delivered, correspond with the invoice.
  • Ensure All HU`s are double checked by a another clerk, before being released for pack-away.
  • Assist the receiving manager in preparing and logging warehouse claims on the warehouse claims system.
  • Despatch all returns that are to be uplifted by a supplier on presentation of a pick-up slip in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure the flow of stock receipts through receiving is maintained, that deliveries arriving are receipted within 48 hours and packed away onto the racking.
  • Process all returns to suppliers in compliance with company standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to food handling SOP at all times.
  • Assist in the training of other staff members.
  • Must be willing to be rotated to where needed and must be willing to perform any other function within the department, should the need arise.

Storage Controls

  • Ensure that all physical controls over the goods receiving area are in place and operating in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure the receiving areas and storerooms, are in an acceptable an orderly condition.
Security:
  • Ensure no unauthorised access is granted to the warehouse via the goods receiving area.
  • Manage and control high risk / sensitive stock, temperature sensitive and high value stock.
  • Take responsibility for your immediate surroundings and prevent any possible losses.
  • Be security conscious at all times and avoid committing theft or fraud.
General:
  • Housekeeping must be in accordance to Dis-Chem standards. Make sure that your workstation is always clean and tidy.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Uniform and personal appearance policy.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Disciplinary and Counselling Policy and Procedures.

  • Knowledge of Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations. Have knowledge of the business measures and targets, directly related to own role.
