Job Description: Cleaner

Salary Scale: £12.71 per hour

Hours: 12.5 hours per week (3.30pm – 6.00pm)

Term time only plus 4 weeks for deep cleaning - October (1) Easter (1) Summer (2)

Responsible to: Site Manager / Assistant Site Manager

Purpose of Job:

To act as part of a team to provide a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the school.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of your designated area and for maintaining high and consistent standards
  • Be responsible for cleaning all aspects of each area allocated. This will include:
  • Sweeping and mopping all hard floors
  • Vacuum cleaning carpeted areas
  • Removal of litter from all floors
  • Cleaning of internal door glass and internal windows, including frames
  • Emptying of general waste bins and taking rubbish bins to rubbish point
  • Emptying recycling bins as required
  • Cleaning desks, tables, shelves, chairs
  • Ensuring ceiling clear of dust and cobwebs
  • All skirting boards to be clean and stain free
  • Cleaning of toilets, sinks, showers
  • Cleaning of swimming pool area and changing rooms
  • Washing internal walls as required
  • Wiping mirrors clean of all marks
  • Cleaning of soft furnishings, making sure stain free
  • To understand and apply school policies and procedures
  • To attend relevant training and meetings as required
  • To respect confidentiality at all times

General:

  • To undertake any training commensurate with the post
  • To show a responsible attitude to health and safety issues and have due regard for their personal safety and that of others
  • Support, uphold and contribute to the development of the school’s equal rights policies and practices in respect of both employment issues and the delivery of services to the community
  • The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required by the Headteacher to carry out appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade
