Bookkeeper (Temporary Position) - Property Management - Pretoria

Introduction

SALARY:                    R100 -R130 per hour

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Our client is a property management and investment company operating across a group of related entities in the Pretoria area. They are looking for a Bookkeeper to join their finance team on a temporary basis.

 

JOB PURPOSE

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the debtors and creditors function across the group's entities. This includes rent roll administration and cashflow reporting, supplier and customer invoicing, monthly reconciliations, and journal processing.

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Property / Rent Roll Accounts

  • Capture monthly rent roll and cashflow reports on Pastel.
  • Ensure general ledgers balance with reports.
  • Check all entries on cashflow reports received from the Managing Agent.
  • Enquire into information where payments seem irregular or incorrect.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of income statement general ledgers, e.g. water, rates, maintenance.
  • Update the monthly rent spreadsheet.
  • Process monthly journals, e.g. credit card, water and electricity allocations, loan account.

 

Accounts Payable, Invoicing & Reconciliations

  • Prepare supplier orders and invoices weekly, on request of the General Manager.
  • Ensure no duplicate payments are made to suppliers.
  • Prepare customer monthly rent invoices, one week before the end of the month.
  • Follow up on all unpaid customer invoices.
  • Prepare customer invoices for municipal charges monthly, ensuring accounts are invoiced once paid each month.
  • Reconcile the general ledgers for all municipal accounts to ensure all are paid and invoiced.
  • Report any significant changes in monthly charges, or missing charges.
  • Reconcile inter-company accounts between related entities and process relevant journals.
  • Process monthly journals, e.g. Builders Warehouse account, company credit cards.
  • Process payment batches once payments have been made.
  • File payments after processing.
  • Prepare monthly maintenance reports to balance with job cards issued and approved.

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Pastel Accounting.
  • Proficiency in Sage One.
  • Experience with MDA / Property Central (MRI).

Package & Remuneration

R100 -R130 Per Hour
