Aviation Inspector (Pilot) at SACAA

What the job is
This job is with the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) in Johannesburg, Gauteng. You will check that pilots and flight training schools follow aviation rules. You will also help make sure flying is safe for everyone.

What you will do
- Make sure pilots and flight instructors meet the right standards.
- Check and approve flight training schools and exam centres.
- Write and update aviation rules to match international safety standards.
- Visit training schools to check they follow the rules.
- Test flight simulators to make sure they work correctly.
- Write reports about what you find during inspections.
- Help fix problems when schools or pilots do not follow the rules.
- Give advice on safety improvements.
- Work with the legal team if rules are broken.
- Talk to people in the aviation industry to improve safety.
- Help solve problems for pilots and training schools.

What you need
- A Commercial Pilot License with a Grade II Instructor Rating or a similar qualification from the SA Air Force.
- Between 300 and 500 hours of experience as a flight instructor.
