What You’ll Do
  • Oversee compliance with mandatory reporting as per the Correctional Services Act.
  • Monitor and evaluate reports concerning inmates, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legislation.
  • Develop and implement strategies and standard operating procedures for effective reporting and record-keeping.
  • Write analytical reports and make recommendations to address systemic issues within the department.
  • Train and educate departmental staff on mandatory reporting protocols and practices.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders to enhance communication and cooperation.
  • Supervise senior case officers and clerks in the mandatory reporting unit.
  • Report directly to the Deputy Director Complaints and Mandatory Reporting on unit activities.
What You’ll Need
  • A Grade 12/Senior Certificate and a BProc or LLB Degree.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the legal environment, with 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong computer literacy and analytical skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, research, and report writing abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Constitution, Correctional Services Act, and other relevant legal frameworks.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other official language.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Admission as an attorney or advocate is an added advantage.
